The difference between the top business schools and local business schools is that the local business schools explain various basic concepts, theories, the pros and cons and the application of the topic vis-à-vis the corporate world. In contrast, the global business schools assume that the students are aware of these fundamentals and come out with case studies and encourage case study discussion in the classroom. The advantage with top business schools is that they get the best talent across the world where students bring in their knowledge, experiences and network. When students from such profile sit in the classroom and discuss the case studies you can imagine the kind of value they add to classroom learning. When best brains discuss it is a great value addition for the students as there is more of collaboration of knowledge among the students. At the same time the facilitators or the faculty members are highly experienced with excellent academic profile, and with industry, research, consultancy and training experience. They are highly focused on specialized areas and, therefore, they add immense value to case study discussion. During the case study discussion, the facilitators listen to all kinds of views, ideas and arguments and, finally, they unfurl their ideas and conclude the case study discussion. In addition, all faculty from top business schools teach less and research more in their specialized areas and that make them stand out from the faculty of local business schools. Here a question may arise among many people why such faculty and students are not available in local business schools. The answer is very simple – everything comes at a price. The global business schools collect huge fee from students and maintain highest quality standards. Their academic ambience is unique and amazing. They pay handsome salaries to faculty and provide faculty with more opportunities for career growth by encouraging research and consultancy. And the same is missing in local business schools due to lack of funds. However, there are always exceptions as there is a possibility of highly talented faculty members and students in local business schools as well thus adding value in their own way.

“Pride and Ego Kills Every time While Death Kills Only Once” - Professor M.S.Rao

Lenny was on the death bed brooding over the mistakes he made in his life. He had one son and four daughters. He loved his son so much that he neglected his four daughters and maintained distance from them. He was at his deathbed and the time was running out. He recalled his past.

He was born in a small village and into a middle class family. He didn’t appreciate education. He was notorious in his childhood and his father would often beat him for not concentrating on studies. His father realized that Lenny was not interested and, finally, put him to work in a retail shop at the age of 20 years. He worked there for few months. He didn’t like and subsequently shifted to a cycle repair shop for working and there was problem with the owner of the cycle shop. He stole a cycle from the shop along with his friend, sold out and fled to a city as he had desire to see city. He worked as a car driver and met with an accident. He was hospitalized and subsequently put in jail for rash driving. After few years he returned his village and got married a woman of his choice.

After marriage he moved to a big city and tried his luck in business and flourished within two years. But he was bankrupt in business. He realized his mistakes, learnt lessons and restarted his life by setting up a retail shop. He was blessed with four daughters and one son. He liked his son so much that he neglected his daughters and distanced from relatives. He became very proud with his growing affluence and expected that his relatives and daughters would approach him with begging bowls for assistance. He quarreled with all sons-in-law and distanced himself to protect his son who was a weak businessman. He quarreled with many of his relatives and distanced himself. In business also he was ruthless, suppressed his workers and prevented them from growing.

Lenny recalled his past life and regretted for his mistakes and for distancing his daughters and relatives with his pride and excessive ego arose out his affluence. He was realizing that he would leave his entire wealth and die. He was craving for his four daughters but they were in distant places and who did not appreciate meeting him as he hurt them and their husbands in the past. He wanted them to see but his pride told him not to approach. Finally, he died with agony.

From this story it is obvious that human relations are more important than money. Learn to spend your time wisely with your kith and kin and build relations with others in your lifetime. Life is very short. Leave no room for regrets at your death bed. Enjoy every moment of your life by sharing your joy and helping others. Money doesn’t come with us when we die. We leave this world either with good or bad reputation. Hence, keep your pride away, check your excessive ego, spend every moment of your life journey happily and leave this world with good reputation as we are not sure of second life. Jim Rohn rightly quoted, "We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons."

People often invite problems due to their wrong attitude, excessive ego, improper communication and lack of empathy. When you address these four things then your problems will be resolved easily and you can build good relations with others. People often view others with wrong attitude and trouble others resulting into more conflicts. Secondly, excessive ego is another root cause. People often think that they are great and don’t give due respect to others resulting into more complications in their relationships. They underestimate and belittle others. Third reason is the lack of proper communication with others. When people communicate with others, they connect with others quickly and build bond with others. There is an inner noise in all human beings and it prevents from active listening. When people don’t listen to what others say, it creates gap in communication resulting into miscommunication. Finally, lack of empathy is another reason responsible for problems. Empathy is the ability to look from the perspective of others. When you empathize with others you understand and respect others’ position and problems get mitigated. Hence, people must develop four strong pillars such as cultivating positive attitude, checking their ego, communicating effectively and empathizing with others for building successful relations with others.
