In the Mahabharata epic, Lord Sri Krishna can be compared as a great coach who coached Arjun when the latter was hitting lows after seeing the army of relatives against whom he had to fight. Arjun deviated from his chosen goals and finally gave up his archery at the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Then Sri Krishna motivated him and coached through precious sermons which we call ‘Bhagwath Gita’ and finally, prepared Arjun to fight against the wrong people.  Lord Sri Krishna asserted that it was always the right that prevails over might and advised Arjun to do duty without looking for returns.

Prior to the battle of Kurukshetra both Duryodan and Arjun approaches Lord Shri Krishna to fight on behalf of Kauravas and Pandavas respectively. Lord Sri Krishna provides two options to them whether they would prefer him as a charioteer or a huge army of soldiers.  Duryodan prefers a huge army of soldiers to Lord Sri Krishna while Arjun prefers Lord Sri Krishna as a charioteer and coach to a huge army of soldiers. Finally, in the battle of Kurukshetra Pandavas won the battle with Lord Sri Krishna’s coaching abilities while the Kauravas lost the battle despite having a huge army of soldiers on their side.  It is obvious that a person with great coaching skills and guiding abilities is much superior to an army of soldiers. It shows the significance of coaching as coaches build skills and abilities among the coachees which help the latter build more than an army of soldiers. Hence, a great coach helps us align our strengths with goals and motivates to achieve the desired outcomes and success in our personal, professional and social lives.
